Significant developments and achievements of the Association are posted in this part of the website. Information in this part is uploaded on a monthly basis.
After assuming charge, the new Executive Committee has made consistent efforts for the fulfillment of the long pending and emerging demands of the teachers. We have been sending regular press notes and reports about these developments have appeared regularly in the print media. We present hereunder a quick review of some of the main activities and developments.

(i) General Body Meeting: A general body meeting of the association was held on Jan. 17, 2013. The charter of demands was discussed and finalized. The general house authorized the Executive Committee to chalk out the next course of action for fulfillment of the demand charter (emailed to members).

(ii) Meeting with Vice-Chancellor: The Executive Committee met the Vice-Chancellor to present and discuss the charter of demands. The Vice-Chancellor remained adamant and refused to constitute a modality committee, review the cause of teachers whose date of eligibility of promotion was changed and others who were denied promotion. After a lot of insistence, the only demand conceded was the installation of Wi-Fi facility at the Faculty House. And of late this facility has been installed at the Faculty House.

(iii) Meeting with Hon’ble Governor Punjab: A delegation of five members from the Executive Committee met His Excellency, Sh. Shiv Raj Patil, the Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on February 6, 2013. The delegation apprised the governor of the demands of the teachers of the university. He gave a patient hearing to the delegation and promised to undertake corrective action.

(iv) Meeting with Hon’ble Finance Minister, Punjab: The delegation also met the Finance Minister, Punjab. S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa and requested him to facilitate the payment of arrears falling due to the teachers on account of the last pay revision. He assured the delegation of personal interest in the matter.

(v) Two-day Dharna: In response to a call given by the North Zone chapter of All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organizations, the Executive Committee sat on dharna for two hours (11:00am to 1:00pm) daily on Feb. 20 & 21, 2013 in front of the office of the Vice Chancellor. The dharna was organized to press for the release of pay arrears, uniform promotion policy, and release of advance increments to teachers with higher qualifications, creation of suitable infrastructure and working environment.

(vi) Executive Committee Meeting: The executive committee held a meeting on Feb. 28, 2013 to chalk out its further course of action for the fulfillment of the genuine demands of the teachers. It was decided that another reminder be sent to the Vice-Chancellor for discussion on the charter of demands. It was also decided that separate letters be drafted and sent regarding some major issues concerning the teachers of the university.

(vii) GNDUTA Website: Website of the Association was launched on March, 14, 2013. The address of the website is www.gnduta.com. The members are requested to visit the website regularly and post their suggestions.
